Should I own an Intellipure® air purifier?

Air pollution is the world’s single largest environmental health risk and it affects everyone. Air pollution has been linked to cardiovascular disease, asthma, other pulmonary diseases, cancer, fertility problems, allergies, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.

The average person spends 90% of their time indoors breathing polluted air in the workplace, school, home, and other spaces. Poor indoor air quality (IAQ) can cause many health issues or worsen the symptoms of existing conditions. That is why the EPA recommends protecting yourself from harmful indoor air pollutants when possible. A great way to do that is by adding an Intellipure Air Purifier to your spaces!

Do Intellipure® air purifiers kill COVID-19?

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Intellipure® conducted a series of tests to show the efficiency of DFS technology in the capture and permanent removal of airborne viruses and bacteria.

Dr. Syed Sattar, a world-renowned Infection Control expert and an advisor to the U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the World Health Organization, conducted his studies in a chamber that was built to follow U.S. EPA guidelines. Our patented DFS technology was proven to remove from the air a proxy virus for SARS-CoV-2 (RNA virus MS2), with 99.987% elimination in 10 minutes of the 0.03 micron particle surrogate. The test also showed that there was 100% elimination in 45 minutes and again 100% at 24 hours, indicating no reintroduction of the proxy virus.

Intellipure can't promise to prevent you from getting COVID-19. However, with our air purification units, you can breathe cleaner, safer air. We recommend that you review COVID-19-related information from the CDC and other reliable resources to learn more.

How does Intellipure's industry-leading DFS technology work?

DFS, or Disinfecting FIltration System technology, was developed by Intellipure® through a U.S. military grant. It has been rigorously lab-tested and has been proven to remove 99.99% of harmful particles at 0.007 (µm). DFS technology also guarantees greater lifetime performance of your air purification system when compared to other air purifiers.

Our Intellipure air purifiers are tested with a class 1 laser particle counter and are certified to meet or exceed HEPA standards. The DFS high energy field creates a self-contained, highly-energized state in the main filter that clusters ultrafine particles to make them larger, allowing the main filter to effectively capture ultrafine particles. It continually creates high-energy exposure through the pleats and fibers of the main filter. This prevents organism growth in the main filter and live organisms from escaping back into the air.

How does Intellipure's DFS technology compare to HEPA technology?

Most air purifiers are designed to meet the HEPA, or High-Efficiency Particulate Air, standards. This means that they effectively remove 99.97% of airborne particles at 0.3µm in size. The HEPA filter is a mesh-like sheet of dense interwoven synthetic or glass fibers. As air passes through the filter, large particles get trapped, but anything smaller than 0.3µm can get through and be released back out into the air you’re breathing.

Many of the most harmful particles, including bacteria, allergens, chemicals, and viruses are smaller than 0.3µm. That’s why at Intellipure®, we created our patented DFS technology to efficiently remove 99.99% of harmful airborne particles at 0.007 µm in size. The DFS high energy field creates a self-contained, highly energized state in the main filter that clusters ultrafine particles to make them larger, allowing the main filter to effectively capture ultrafine particles. The DFS continually creates high-energy exposure through the pleats and fibers of the main filter. This prevents organism growth in the main filter and prevents live organisms from escaping back into the air.

How does DFS work?

Our products are tested with a class 1 laser particle counter and are certified to meet or exceed HEPA standards.

  • The DFS high energy field creates a self‐contained, highly energized state in the main filter that clusters ultrafine particles to make them larger, allowing the main filter to effectively capture ultrafine particles.
  • The DFS continually creates high energy exposure through the pleats and fibers of the main filter. This prevents organism growth in the main filter and prevents live organisms from escaping back into the air.

How is Intellipure's DFS technology different from UV light air purifiers?

UV light purifiers use UV-C light, also known as germicidal light. It harms cells by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, which either kills them or leaves them incapacitated. The harmful particles have to be exposed to UV-C light for long periods of time for this to work. UV-C light is only effective at disinfecting surfaces and is not effective at destroying pollutants in the air. This technology does nothing for destroying particulate matter like PM2.5 or ultrafine particles, including VOCs. UV-C light also produces ozone which can be extremely toxic to our respiratory systems and general health.

Our patented DFS technology has been studied and proven to remove 99.99% of airborne particles down to 0.007 µm in size. It uses a self-contained, highly-energized state in the main filter that clusters ultrafine particles together to make them larger, allowing the main filter to effectively capture ultrafine particles. The controlled, isolated high-energy field generated by the DFS continually creates high-energy exposure through the pleats and fibers of the main filter. This prevents organism growth in the main filter and prevents live organisms from escaping back into the air. These two mechanisms work together to provide ultraclean filtration of particles. DFS air purifiers are also certified with the Zero Ozone Verification by Intertek and are part of the Intertek Sustainability program. That means our air purification technology will fill your spaces with clean air without creating harmful ozone. You can find information about the certification by searching the Intertek Sustainability Directory

How does Intellipure's DFS technology prevent bacteria growth inside the filter?

DFS uses a proprietary technology that prevents bacteria growth from building up on your air purifier. Although true HEPA air purifiers expel fresh air, they don’t do anything to keep the filter itself clean or free from bacteria and mold.

By inhibiting growth, DFS technology also prevents live organisms from escaping back into the air. In effect, by using this technology, you are improving your air without exposing yourself and your loved ones to new harmful bacteria growth.

How long does it take my air purifier to clean the room?

This depends on multiple factors such as square footage, ceiling height, and the pollution level in your space.

Unit Size Space Approximate* Air Changes
Compact 0-500 sqft 2-3 changes per hour
Ultrafine 468 0-1200 sqft 2-3 changes per hour
950P 0-3,500 sqft 2-3 changes per hour

*Based on a controlled testing environment

Air changes per hour or air change rate is a measure of the air volume added to or removed from space in one hour, divided by the volume of the space.

How long should I run my air purifier?

All of our air purifiers are designed to operate effectively 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We believe that the only way to treat indoor spaces is to run the air purifier constantly, as air cleaning is not an event but rather a continual process. If you have any questions about the most efficient way to run your air purifier, feel free to contact us.

Where can I find Intellipure® user manuals?

Ensure your unit is set up properly and cleaning your air the way it should be and find troubleshooting tips for common problems by reading our air purifier manuals.

Can I use my unit with an extension cord or a surge protector?

We do not recommend using extension cords or surge protectors with your Intellipure air purifiers. Extension cords and surge protectors come in a wide variety of power ratings and classifications that can interfere with the normal operation of DFS technology and the function of your unit’s motor. Some underground extension cords and surge protectors can also give feedback that can interfere with the control panel functions.

Where should I place my Intellipure® unit?

For the most effective results, you should place your air purifier in an area where you spend the most time and where airflow won’t be restricted. It is best to give your air purifier enough “breathing room” so that it can take in harmful particles and let out as much clean, fresh air as possible. We also recommend that you don’t place objects directly on top of your air purifier, as this can restrict the amount of air coming out of the unit.

If you decide to mount your Compact Unit on the wall, make sure to leave space between the top of the unit and your ceiling.

Should I clean my unit with water?

To prevent fires or shock hazards, do not expose your unit to rain or moisture. Our air purifiers are designed for dry, indoor residential use and should not be cleaned under running water or immersed or sprayed with liquids. In the event your air purifier is exposed to moisture, make sure the unit is completely dry before turning it back on.

How effective are Intellipure® air purifiers at removing odors from the air?

Intellipure® air purifiers are very effective at removing odors from the air. Can Intellipure® air purifiers help improve air impacted by wildfire smoke?

Yes — Intellipure® air purifiers are effective at removing particles and airborne chemicals that are created by wildfire smoke. Our patented DFS technology can remove and eliminate ash and soot caused by fires from your indoor air.

Wildfire smoke primarily consists of water vapor, ultrafine particles, and dangerous gasses. These gasses include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The composition of wildfire smoke can vary based on changes like the temperature, what is burning, and the wind. According to the EPA, smoke from wildfires in the United States adversely affects air quality and potentially puts people at health risk from smoke exposure.

Will using an Intellipure® air purifier make my air smell different?

When using an Intellipure® air purifier, you may notice that your air smells fresher than it did before. Your indoor air can be 5 to 100 times more polluted when not using an air purifier. When those pollutants are removed from your environment, you experience nothing but clean fresh air.

Get started on your journey to cleaner indoor air when you contact us today!

Will my Intellipure® air purifier work if I place it in a room with a dehumidifier?

Yes — your Intellipure® air purifier will work if placed in the same room as a dehumidifier. However, for best results, we recommend that you don’t place them directly next to each other. Learn more about air purifier best practices by clicking here.

Can I use my air purifier in my car, mobile home, or camper?

Yes, feel free to use your Intellipure air purifier in a vehicle or mobile home! Our units do not draw large amounts of power, which means that a 12-volt inverter with at least 100 watts of power will do. Our Compact Air Purifier only uses 65 watts on the turbo setting, and our Ultrafine 468 unit only uses 95 watts on the turbo setting.

Can I burn candles and incense around my air purifier?

We recommend that you don’t burn candles or incense around your air purifier to ensure that your air is kept clean and your health is not negatively impacted. Burning candles and incense has potential health effects due to exposure to contaminants and particulate matter. Exposure to incense smoke has been linked to several illnesses and certain brands of incense contain chemicals that can cause skin irritation.

Do Intellipure® air purifiers produce ozone?
